Certifications

Always attentive to respect for the environment and people, in 2011 Iride obtained the GOTS certification, Global Organic Textile Standard.This standard has been developed by leading international organisations in organic farming to guarantee the consumer that organic textile products are made in compliance with stringent environmental and social criteria applied at all levels of production, from the field harvesting of natural fibers.

In 2022, Iride obtained the RWS certification Responsible Wool Standard and, as for the GOTS, every year it supports quality, social and environmental audits in order to maintain these certifications. The RWS standard ensures animal welfare , environmental and social responsibility in the wool supply chain. RWS breeders are assessed on the basis of animal welfare, land management and social requirements. In addition, the RWS standard also requires respecting the 'Five Freedoms' of Animal Welfare.

Iride has long been committed to the reduction and progressive elimination of toxic and harmful substances from the production chain through the application of the 4sustainability® Chemical Management Protocol and the implementation of the MRSL ZDHC (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List). In 2024, Iride obtained the level II (Progressive) ZDHC.

Finally, all the recent years investments have been designed with a view to saving resources: from the insulation of the steam lines in order to prevent heat loss, to the installation of a photovoltaic system of 240 Kw for the production and self-consumption of energy ; in addition, a hot water recovery system has also been installed that allows water to be stored and reused for dyeing in the following days, thus leading to a further reduction of energy, gas and water consumption. All departments are equipped with LED lights and at the end of 2024 both steam generators were replaced with two latest generation plants that contribute to drastically reduce gas consumption.
